Kexue Kids is a science education program with a twist. We combine science and fun for children aged 2–18 years old, in kindergartens, schools and for birthday parties!
Science shows
Our shows are not science lessons, they are science experiences. We present complex scientific concepts using dramatic techniques and characters, to help supplement traditional science lessons.
We have a suite of shows that can be adapted to fit your curriculum. We cover many scientific units including physics, chemistry, biology, engineering and geometry. Our shows are interdisciplinary, and combine elements of history, music, drama, dance and art. They promote inquiry-based learning, and link concepts with practical applications. Some of our show themes include:
• Music
• Slime
• Electricity
• Living things
• Marine
• Human health
• Fire and combustion
• Pressure
• Bubbles
• Structures and collisions
An average show is 30 minutes long and two of these can be combined into a one hour show. We can perform for one class or one grade level depending on your needs.
Workshops
Our workshops can be run as stand-alone sessions connected to your curriculum, or can build upon concepts introduced in our shows. During our workshops we discuss a scientific topic with your students and answer questions, and then guide students through the design, and production stage of a small science activity.
Workshops run for 30–90 minutes and usually with one class group at a time.
Preschool and kindergarten science sessions
Kids make great scientists: they are inquisitive and will try almost anything. We run science sessions for children aged 2–6 years old. During a one hour session children watch a 15 minute science show, and then experience science through safe, simple and fun science demonstrations. Kids learn by doing, and ask questions just as scientists do.
Birthday parties
No lab coats, no microscopes. Our birthday parties are ‘edutaining’, humorous, fun and feature plenty of audience interaction. More than just science clowns, we will perform a show and run a hands-on activity for groups of up to 20 children. We will keep the kids busy and also clean up afterwards!
