Kexue Communications is a scientific communication organization headquartered in Beijing working with researchers, organizations, places of education and media to assist in the dissemination of science within China and abroad.

 

Vision

To be leading science communicators serving the scientific and education sectors in China. We hope to develop close relationships with researchers, media, students and the public to ensure science is communicated accurately and effectively.
 
 

Who is Kexue Communications? 

Kexue Communications is led by two Australian science communicators who each have over five years of working experience within Asia. Kexue Communications was founded in 2009 by Ben Bravery; Tim O’Mahony joined in 2010.

 
  
Managing Director: Ben Bravery obtained a Bachelor of Science and Honours from The University of Queensland. He has a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication from the Australian National University and Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. He has published several scientific articles and in 2007 he was selected as a United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Young Leader in Sustainability for the Environment. Before founding Kexue Communications Ben was employed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences as managing editor of a peer-reviewed journal.
 
 
 
 
Communications Consultant and Liaison: Tim O'Mahony holds a Bachelor of Science (Science Communication) and a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication from the Australian National University and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. Tim has worked in the science communication industry since 2006, and has given hundreds of science education and science communication presentations in Australia and throughout Asia. Before joining Kexue Communications Tim coordinated programs for Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre ­– Questacon and worked as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development in the Philippines. 
 
 
 
Science Educator: Jehan Azad grew up near Boston and attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Through high school and university he tutored students in math, science and engineering. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, he worked as an engineer for TR Electric Company in Beijing. Since early 2010 he has been studying Chinese and tutoring and teaching maths and science. He has also been involved in Beijing Improv since 2009, as a member of their Bilingual Improv Group and Mainstage English Players.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Science Educator: Laure Brooker is a French senior engineer working in the space business since 1994 in Spain, the Netherlands and France. She has held positions with the European Space Agency and EADS Astrium. Laure has participated in Spacelab missions working closely with NASA and ESA astronauts, to design space craft and the manufacture, testing, launch and operating of satellites. She has lectured at universities and in Beijing schools.
